From Trinidad & Tobago, Sarah Seukeran is an indie pop singer/songwriter, releasing music under the name “Ishana” (her middle name), for which she wrote, self-produced, and self released the EP Dear Anxiety in April, 2020. She began her musical journey as the former rhythm guitarist for a band called The Flick from age 12. Every once in a while, she plays guitar, writes, and sings backing vocals for a long-distance trio called The Class Project. In December 2020, she qualified for Music TT's Spotlight Program: a nine-month Artist Portfolio Development Program, in which she is currently enrolled. She is learning a lot about the music industry, and developing her skills as an independent artist. When describing her musical influences, she says, “Sara Bareilles and John Mayer are huge inspirations to my songwriting and musicianship for sure.” Many people have also compared her voice to Sade, another of her favorite musicians.
